Rick Kutcher
This will be my 11th year teaching and it has been an incredible journey. I started playing the trumpet WAY back in 5th grade in New Jersey. I took private lessons, performed with the band and orchestra in high school and attended the Julliard School of Music Pre-College program (in NY) during my junior and senior year. I then attended the University of Connecticut where I earned my Bachelor of Music degree in trumpet performance. I then came to Texas and earned my Master of Music at the University of Texas at Austin. I have studied with members of the New York Philharmonic, Hartford Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Empire Brass Quintet.
I have been fortunate enough to perform with major symphony orchestras, including the New Jersey Symphony, Garden State Symphony, Hartford Symphony, and the Austin Symphony. I am currently a member of the Austin Civic Orchestra.
I first began teaching in Trenton, New Jersey, teaching Music Appreciation and Music History. I spent 2 years there, then returned to Texas where I taught band in Hempstead for 7 years. I was fortunate enough to land the gig at Cedar Creek High School last year as we opened the school.
